How can you be considered an active WISE member?
Point System
Each General Body Meeting awards an attending 1 point.
Events:
Each WISE event awards 2 points to an attending member. (Members are required to attend 1 WISE event per semester).
Volunteering:
2 to 3 points are awarded per designated volunteering shift of volunteering events directly sponsored or created by WISE (shifts are 2-3 hours and awarded 2-3 points depending on the activity).
1 point is awarded per 2 hours of volunteering at a non-WISE sponsored, STEM-related activity (maximum of 3 points) given that the member has gained approval by the WISE board. Volunteering for Non-WISE sponsored, STEM-related activities may include (but are not limited to); volunteering at an animal shelter or hospital, unpaid tutoring, volunteering at a run or walk related to STEM fields (ex. 5k walks for cancer, etc.)
Rules Regarding Point System:
Condition 1:
Justifiable proof is required to be turned in to the Secretary, and approval by the WISE board is needed for any volunteer events that are not organized/supervised by WISE, but which the member wishes to gain points from.
Condition 2:
Members MUST obtain a minimum of 8 points per semester (A total of 16 points per year) in order to be considered active members and to be eligible to run for board positions.
Condition 3:
In order to earn a graduation cord from WISE, a member must be considered an active member of WISE for a total of 2 SEMESTERS or an active member for 1 semester and with a total of 22 points.
